Irish Music Registration Information

The Registration Fee of $20 covers the cost of competition and a gate pass.

A $20 late fee will be assessed for registrations made between June 6-June 14.

 No entries will be accepted after June 14.

All Irish Music events will be in the Fiddle Building at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, Berea, OH June 22, 2024. 

There are two Instrumental Divisions:

  1. Under 15, a competitor shall play one tune from each of the two classes in rule 4.
  2. Over 15 competitors shall play an air, reel, and jig.
  3. Age is determined by the age day of the competition. In the event of a dispute, a certificate of age must be submitted upon request. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  4. Electronic or amplified music may not be used in any competition.
  5. Tunes are to be selected from among the following classes: air, reel, polka, hornpipe, jig (single, double, or slip), slide, set dance, march, and mazurka. Competitors shall play each tune twice through. In the case of a reel, which is played singly, a competitor shall play the reel three times through. Sheet music is not to be used.
  6. Event open to any instrument.
  7. All events will take place the morning of Saturday, June 22, 2024 in the Fiddle Building building.
  8. Precise time TBD.
This event will be judged by Eimear Arkins

Eimear is an award-winning singer and fiddle player from County Clare with eleven solo Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (World Irish Music Championships) titles to her credit. She has performed throughout the US and Ireland with acclaimed bands like Cherish The Ladies, Téada, and The Paul Brock Band.  She has toured extensively with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in Ireland, Britain, North America and Canada. Eimear’s debut CD, What’s Next? was released in summer 2019 to great acclaim and she was named “Best Newcomer” by LiveIreland 2019. Most recently, Eimear has been awarded an artist fellowship from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.

Eimear is a tutor at St. Louis Irish Arts and has been guest artist at numerous festivals throughout the world, including Feile Seamus Creagh, Newfoundland; Catskills Irish Arts Week, New York; World Expo 2015, Milan; Viljandi Pärimusmuusika Festival, Estonia; St. Louis Tionól; Canadian Celtic Celebration, Canada; O’Flaherty Retreat, Texas and Festival Interceltique de Lorient, France
