Fiddle Registration Information

The Registration Fee of $20 covers the cost of competition and a gate pass.

A $20 late fee will be assessed for registrations made between June 13-June 20.

 No entries will be accepted after June 21.

All Scottish Fiddle events will be in the Fiddle Building at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, Berea, OH June 28, 2025. 

There will be a Scottish Fiddle workshop prior to the competition starting at 1 PM. Scottish Fiddle Competition will begin at approximately 2:30 PM. 

1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals will be awarded in Novice, Junior, Intermediate Jr, and Intermediate Sr categories.

Prize money of 1st $100, 2nd $75 & 3rd $50 will be awarded in the Open Master Category

Categories

  • Three tunes either air (pause, wait for a nod from the judge) then a strathspey and reel; or, a March, strathspey and reel set.

  • Must play air; then a set of tunes: March, strathspey and reel in that order. Types of tunes: Air: Any slow air, pastoral, slow strathspey lament or tune played as an air. March: Any march, whether 2/4, 4/4 or 6/8 or any tune played as a march. Strathspey: Any dance strathspey or other type of tune to be played as a strathspey. Reel: Any reel, Scots measure, hornpipe or other to be played as a reel. Waltzes, jigs and hornpipes played as such cannot be substituted for the categories listed above.
